What is Processor | Complete Guide in Details

Introduction to Processor.

Processor is a hardware device and also knows is the brain of computer. You can call it a CPU which stand for Central Processing Unit. All the part of computer help the processor to get the task done, it is the main thing your computer need. A processor is a small chip that is mounted and made for mobile, computer, laptop, tablet and many other devices.

What is Processor?

Basically a processor is a piece of hardware that does some calculations using received input and produces outputs. At the basic level they are made of transistors which make up gates which together make up adders and a lot of other structures to do calculations. A processor is the logic circuitry that responds to and processes the basic instructions. that drive a computer.

There is and has been many processors on the market, running at many different speeds. Processors can be of various types. Some type of processor.

Type of Processor.

Microprocessor: A microprocessor is a central processing unit (CPU) on a single chip, It is a processor designed to perform parallel processing of data which leads to smooth overlaying of picture in screen. Desktop and portable computers typically contain one microprocessor, while more-powerful computers often make use of multiple microprocessors.

Media Processor: Mostly used as an image or video processor. It is a microprocessor based system on a chip which is designed to deal with digital streaming data in real time rates.

Digital Signal Processor: The digital signal processor is used for filtering, measuring, compressing analogue and digital signals.

General Purpose Processor: General-purpose processors are the target processors that probably first come to mind to anyone writing a computer program. A general-purpose macro processor or general purpose processor is a macro processor that is not tied to or integrated with a particular language or piece of software. General purpose processors (GPP) are designed for general purpose computers such as PCs or workstations.

Micro Controller: A micro-controller is a small computer on a single metal oxide semiconductor integrated circuit chip. A micro-controller contains one or more CPUs along with memory and programmable input/output peripherals.

Multi Processor: Multiprocessing is the use of two or more central processing units within a single computer system. The term also refers to the ability of a system to support more than one processor or the ability to allocate tasks between them.
